The talk of CloudWorld this week was VMware's acquisition of SpringSource. The top-of-mind chatter focused on the price: $400 million plus, a very large sum for a company doing perhaps $25 million in revenues. Certainly there was a good bit of envy in this type of conversation. And, of course, the fact that SpringSource is an open source company further makes the number even more eye-watering.

The clarion call at Citrix’s annual customer and partner event is technology simplification and yielding to the forces of consumerisation.Citrix Synergy, which brings together virtualisation, networking and application delivery together, got underway here in Las Vegas today. MGM Grand’s arena, which fills up to capacity normally during boxing matches, was crowded with the virtualisation vendor’s partners and customers, making it the largest ever Synergy event.

Antoine Aguado, Regional Director, Citrix SystemsCitrix Systems, a provider of application delivery infrastructure says the latest addition to its Citrix Delivery Centre product array, the Citrix XenDesktop 3 will not only help it to deliver high definition experiences  with enhanced support for multimedia, but also help organisations to be far more flexible and reduce desktop management costs in a virtualised environment. CNME?s Manda Banda spoke to Antoine Aguado, Regional Director at Citrix Systems Middle East region to find out the strategies the vendor has in the desktop virtualisation space.
